The teaching of Wilderness Survival and Bushcraft has a long history in Canada . Unfortunately, most schools or organizations lifespan is short lived, few lasting longer than 20 years. Bushcraft and Wilderness Survival Instructors tend to retire and shut their companies down at the same time. Compounding this is a society that rarely values Survival Instruction and believes that its services should be free or inexpensive. Mors Kochanski and his many students have created numerous survival schools, most in Western Canada. These instructors and survival schools have helped bring Wilderness Survival Instruction out of the “Wilderness” and into the mainstream of Outdoor Education
